What if the breed of my dog is not featured in the list of breeds?

The application lists 53 breeds of dogs among the most common. Each breed is associated with a factor enabling specific calculation and thus aiming to optimize the food intakes of your pet.

If the breed of your dog does not appear in the list or if your dog descends from crossbreeding, you have two options:

  • Choose the family of your dog, if it exists. For example, you can select “Nordic Breed” for a Siberian Husky.
  • Choose “Other breed”

The application will then use a generic calculation factor to optimize the rations at best regarding the needs of your pet.

How can I link a picture to an animal?

Go to the animal’s description then hit the “Edit” button in the navigation bar. Hit the camera icon and select whether you want to take a picture or use one from your library.

How can I add, modify or delete a weight measure for an animal?

Go to the animal’s description then hit the “Current weight” label, which will display the weight measure list. You can then add a new one by hitting the “+” button, modify one by selecting it, or delete one thanks to the “Edit” button in the navigation bar.

How can I use the Notes feature?

The Notes feature allows you to record all types of events in the life of your pet. For example, the previous vaccinations, the care it received, the exhibitions in which it participated and so on.

You can enter an unlimited number of notes for each animal: select the “Notes” cell and tap the “+” button to add a new note.

A note includes the following information:

  • a date in the past or future
  • a title
  • a photo / image (optional)
  • a text description (optional)

The list of notes is presented in reverse chronological order, i.e. from the newest to the oldest.

How can I add, modify or delete a note for an animal?

Go to the animal’s description then hit the “Notes” label, which will display the list of previously entered comments. You can add, modify or delete notes in the same way as weight measures.

Notes can help you keep track of any information regarding your pet, whether past or future facts/events. You can even add a picture to each note, in a similar way to the pet picture.

How can I input the description of an industrial food?

Select the “Food” tab, then hit the “+” button. You will then have to enter the name of the food. On the food description, hit the button to choose between “Dry” or “Canned”, and specify the packaging weight and price if you wish.

Finally, hit the “Composition” label and fill in the corresponding percentage for each nutrient category (protein, fat, etc.).

The application checks what you input and warns you in case of abnormal or incoherent data entry.

How can I calculate a ration?

Select the “Ration” tab and choose a food type, industrial (dry/canned) or homemade:

  • in case of industrial food, choose one of the foods you entered via the “Food” tab
  • in case of homemade food, select the sources of proteins, fibers and energy

You have then to select the pet to which the ration is dedicated. If it’s a female, you can specify additional conditions (pregnancy or lactation), these states having an important influence on dietary needs.

Once all these parameters are correctly set, hit the bone-shaped button at the bottom-right of the screen to start the calculation.

The results are then displayed in terms of quantity. The “i” buttons give you access to information and warnings specific to the current scenario (pet, food type, etc.).

Results of this analysis are generated as a color PDF file that you can either send by e-mail or directly print thanks to AirPrint (iOS 4.2 and above).

Saving and transferring data to another device

How can I save the application data?

Application data backup is a built-in feature of your iPhone-iPad and iTunes, as long as you regularly synchronize your device with iTunes on your PC or Mac.

At the beginning of the syncing process, iTunes saves the following data from your device:

  • Contacts and Contact favorites
  • App Store Application data
  • Application settings, preferences and data
  • Music, videos, photos, etc.

When you change your device, or even with your current device, you are able to restore that backup with iTunes. You will thus be able to retrieve all the data and content saved during the last syncing.

For more information about backup saving and restoring, please visit: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766?viewlocale=us_US

You can also use the “iTunes Database export” feature (see below) to run an individual backup of your application data. Be careful to properly save the “Database_Export.db” file on your PC or Mac.
